Itinerary
on first day of 4 days traveling in morocco from ouarzazate. We will collect you from either your accommodation or the airport in Ouarzazate early in the morning, after which we’ll embark on a tour of the city. During this excursion, we will explore the Atlas Studio where several famous movies were shot and also visit the Taourirt Kasbah. We’ll then proceed southeast to visit Amridil Kasbah, which is surrounded by palm groves in Skoura.
From there, we will travel to Rose Valley. A Rose Festival takes place every May, where the locals offer their rose products such as perfumes, rose water, oil, and cosmetic products. We’ll continue our journey through the Dades valley, stopping at a vantage point overlooking the valley to take in the breathtaking views of Dades gorges. Our next stop will be Todra Gorges, where the Todra river’s course has carved out a magnificent canyon through the mountains, creating a high red cliff-sided canyon. There will be free time for lunch and exploring the gorges to appreciate the beauty of the landscape.
Later in the afternoon, we’ll arrive at the Sahara desert of Merzouga, where you’ll ride camels across the sandy desert. We’ll stop to enjoy the magical sunset from atop a high dune before continuing to the desert luxury camp. Here, you can appreciate the Berber drums music while dancing around the campfire under the vast open sky full of stars. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp will follow.
To fully experience the magnificence of the desert, waking up early to witness the sunrise is a must-do. Following breakfast, you’ll return to Merzouga on camelback, where your driver will be waiting to take you on a day-long exploration of the area. The region boasts an array of incredible sites that are perfect for outdoor activities, including sand dunes, oases, mines, and fossils areas.
Our first stop in Merzouga will be an ancient eyeliner mine, which we’ll reach by off-road driving. After that, we’ll visit the nomads in their hand-woven tents to learn about their lifestyle while enjoying a cup of Berber tea. Next, we’ll head to Khamlia village, where the locals originating from sub-Saharan countries like Mali, Sudan, and Niger perform Gnaoua music and dance.
You’ll have free time for lunch at a local restaurant before taking a stroll in a palm grove. Our final stop for the day is the wild lake of Merzouga, also known as the flamingo lake, just a few kilometers away. You’ll spend the night in a hotel and enjoy dinner.
