On the 5th of your 9-day Morocco desert tour from casablanca. After breakfast, embark on an exciting 4X4 car safari to discover the hidden treasures of the Sahara Desert.
You will drive through the huge dunes and follow the tracks of the famous RALLY DAKAR, an exciting experience that will get your adrenaline pumping. On the way, you will have the opportunity to visit a nomadic family and have a cup of tea with them to get an insight into their way of life.
You will then be taken to the village of Khamliya, a small village near the center of Merzouga. This village is mainly inhabited by people with black skin color who were brought as slaves during the time of slavery.
The village of Khamliya is also considered the birthplace of Gnaoua music, a traditional music genre in Morocco. Here you will have the opportunity to listen to the enchanting melodies of Gnaoua music, a unique cultural experience.
Continuing your journey, you will visit the seasonal lake of Srij, located on the edge of the golden dunes of Merzouga. This lake serves as a stopover for migratory birds moving from Europe to South Africa and offers a breathtaking natural spectacle.
At noon, you will enjoy a delicious lunch at one of the local restaurants where you can try Berber pizza, a local specialty. After lunch, you will have some free time to relax and take in the surroundings.
Later in the day, you will be directed to a camel park where you will begin your camel ride to the oasis camp in the heart of the desert. Along the way, you will stop to witness the breathtaking sunset over the majestic dunes – a truly unforgettable moment.
Once at the camp, you will experience an authentic nomadic night and stay in a fully equipped camp with all amenities. The camp will serve you delicious, freshly prepared local food for dinner and breakfast.
After dinner, you can participate in the nomads’ traditional dances, songs and riddle rounds, all under a mesmerizing starry sky. This will be an unforgettable night amidst the rich culture and hospitality of the Sahara desert
